Abigail Lapell – “Wait Up” (Acoustic) ft. Great Lake Swimmers: A Stripped-Back Duet Full of Warmth and Harmony

Abigail Lapell returns with a tender acoustic version of Wait Up, a standout track from her JUNO-nominated album Anniversary. Featuring Tony Dekker of Great Lake Swimmers, this new rendition pares the song back to its core, revealing an intimate interplay of harmonised vocals and gently duelling acoustic guitars.

While the original leaned into folk-rock energy, this acoustic take feels more grounded and personal. The raw performance draws attention to Lapell’s lyrical sensitivity—focused here on the longing and tension within a complicated love dynamic. The stripped-down approach also lets the melodic structure breathe, highlighting the chemistry between Lapell and Dekker in a way that feels both immediate and reflective.

This new recording is part of Lapell’s upcoming Anniversary & More Songs About Love, an expanded edition of her 2025 album set to include acoustic versions, translations, and reinterpretations. It arrives ahead of her first UK tour in May 2025, including a headline date at London’s Jazz Café.
