Demons My Friends, a Mexican stoner/doom metal trio based in Austin, TX, delivers an electrifying punch with their track “Make Them Pay.” From the opening notes, a dark and menacing groove takes center stage, accompanied by layers of fuzzy, distorted guitars that create a dense sonic landscape. The vocals, full of power and energy, cut through the mix, and the interludes provide brief moments of respite before the melodic layers return to fill the space. With powerful riffs and a distinctive chorus, Demons My Friends showcases their prowess in the stoner/doom metal realm.
The band, comprising members of Fellowcraft (Washington, DC) and the renowned Mexican rock band QBO, came together during an impromptu recording session at SXSW 2022. Their concept explores the inner journey each member embarked on since the onset of the COVID pandemic, bravely confronting inner demons and battling anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and rage. Through their music, they teach themselves to transform these demons into their “friends,” giving birth to their unique name.
Drawing inspiration from sonic influences such as Monolord, King Buffalo, All Them Witches, and Baroness, among others, Demons My Friends masterfully straddle the line between heavy rock and heavy metal. Their debut single “Bring The Night” sets the stage for their upcoming debut album, slated for release in early 2023. Produced and mixed by Jeff Henson (known for working with Duel, Greenbeard, Spirit Adrift, Clutch), and masterfully mastered by Alberto de Icaza, the track exudes a captivating aura that announces their presence in the heavy underground scene.
