“Top Of The World” originated from a beautiful chord structure created by guitarist Jason Mozersky. The band came together, strumming acoustic guitars live in the studio, accompanied by upright bass and brushes on the drums. This setup instantly felt warm and welcoming. Lead vocalist Noah Lit decided to sing in a lower register than usual, inviting Kat Edmonson to join him in a melody reminiscent of Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra. The lyrics are straightforward and honest, reflecting Noah’s contentment with his personal life amid the turmoil of the world around him.
Grackles formed in October 2022 during a recording session at Arlyn Studio in Austin, Texas. Drummer Jimmy Paxson, fresh from touring with The Chicks, connected with Jason Mozersky, and they enlisted producer Kyle Crusham and songwriter Noah Lit. Noah, who had stepped away from the music industry, rose to the challenge of writing new songs for the band. The result is a collection of 13 tracks that showcase the band’s unique blend of dark blues rhumba, country ballads, and rock elements. Their music is a testament to the rich musical history of Austin, combining singer-songwriter aesthetics with blazing guitar solos and danceable rhythms. With guest vocals from Kat Edmonson and Lauren Harris, Grackles brings a modern twist to classic sounds, capturing the essence of Austin’s musical heritage.
