Harmonious Bliss: Land Of Bees’ ‘Oxygen’

Land Of Bees welcomes us into their musical realm with “Oxygen,” a folky gem that weaves a captivating sonic tapestry. The track unfolds with a delicate, picked guitar, setting a gentle and inviting tone. As the song progresses, a heartfelt vocal enters the stage, bearing an emotive quality that evokes memories of Neil Young.

“Oxygen” takes listeners on a journey through layers of strings that add depth to the composition. But what truly stands out is the infusion of harmonies that enrich the sonic landscape. The chorus, in particular, shines with its multilayered vocals, creating a beautifully textured and melodious experience. The song’s evolution is marked by the arrival of a fuller groove, complete with the rhythmic embrace of bass and drums. It exudes a vitality that breathes life and emotion into every note.

A highlight of “Oxygen” is its bridge, a delicate arrangement that elevates the track to new heights, carrying the listener to an emotional crescendo before gracefully returning to the comforting embrace of the chorus.

Land Of Bees is a musical collective that was formed by nature and discovered by three friends in 2019: Laurita Guaico, Brian Caviness, and Lane Campbell. Each member brings a rich musical background, and their collective sound is characterized by vocal harmonies and acoustic instrumentation. Their influences span a wide spectrum, encompassing artists like Fleet Foxes, The Roches, Pentangle, and traditional folk music from various traditions.

Laurita, with her Chilean roots, adds a unique flavor to the group with her charango, an Andean stringed instrument. Brian’s background includes time spent writing and performing music in Ohio, while Lane, a native Californian, manages a music shop and has a wealth of experience in writing and performing music. The trio shares lead vocal and songwriting duties, contributing to the rich tapestry of their sound.

Over time, Land Of Bees expanded to include two more members: Jerry Andrews, a seasoned musician and producer known for his work with Maria McKee, contributes solid bass lines, while multi-instrumentalist Matt Leaver provides a diverse array of percussion, including the cajon.

Their debut three-song collection, “No. 1,” produced by Jerry Andrews, was released in June 2022, marking their official introduction to the music scene. Land Of Bees’ harmonious and emotive sound, as showcased in “Oxygen,” promises to captivate audiences and leave a lasting impression.
