Today, we dive into the journey of HKS, an indie band that has followed a familiar trajectory within the music industry. With a decade of experience under their belts, HKS has released an EP and two full-length albums, namely their self-titled debut in 2015 and the well-received “Melter” in 2018. Along the way, they have graced local and regional stages, sharing the spotlight with notable acts such as Polyphonic Spree, The Sword, Dead Meadow, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, Pallbearer, Broncho, Blushing, Sun & Stone, Ringo Deathstar, Rainbows Are Free, and many others. The band seemed to be on a promising trajectory.
However, as with countless musicians, the unexpected arrival of the pandemic forced schedules and plans to be scrapped. Like so many others, HKS faced the challenge head-on and made the most of the supposed “downtime.” It was during this period that they harnessed their creativity and set to work. The fruits of their labor are set to be unveiled in the form of a new EP, scheduled for release in June on the esteemed Tulsa label, Horton Records.
