“Time Passes,” the latest single from Denver-based singer-songwriter Isaac Martinez, is a stripped-back, reflective track blending acoustic textures, melodic piano lines, and steady rhythm work. Originally written just before an open mic at the now-closed Doghouse Sessions in Los Angeles, the song found new life after a request from Martinez’s wife to record it properly.
Built around a warm bassline and acoustic guitar strumming, the arrangement gently evolves. Subtle piano adds melodic depth while the vocals, calm and purposeful, carry the narrative. As the track progresses, the drums and backing vocals lift the energy, giving the piece forward motion while maintaining its introspective tone.
Recorded in Denver, the track features contributions from producer Glitter Gore, bassist “Bad” Dan Mikolaczyk of Briffaut, and mixing engineer Jerry Ordonez (Waxahatchee, Bon Iver), whose touch helps translate the song’s live energy into a recorded format. The accompanying video, shot in Cheesman Park by director Johnny Singels, offers a personal glimpse into Martinez’s world, featuring his wife, son, and longtime friend Mack Turner.
“Time Passes” captures a quiet moment of reflection from an artist known for his expansive and often genre-blending catalogue. This release distills that energy into something intimate and direct.
