Dallas-based group Monks of Symbiosis launch their self-titled debut album with “Fine Line,” a track that sets the tone with intricate guitar arpeggios, piano textures, and rich multi-layered vocals. The sound leans into progressive rock territory with a modern sensibility, gradually building in energy and arrangement complexity as the track unfolds.
Formed during the pandemic, the band’s origins are rooted in a shared moment of uncertainty. Six musicians from different musical backgrounds came together at Mistletoe Farm, an old country house, after venues closed and live work disappeared. With regular Thursday night jams and spontaneous writing sessions, the group developed their sound collaboratively and organically.
“Fine Line” reflects themes of transition, loss, and renewal—ideas shaped by the band’s circumstances during the pandemic. The track’s structure mirrors those emotional shifts, beginning introspectively and gradually evolving into a more driven, guitar-led finale.
