Peter Alexander Jobson, former bassist and keyboard player for I Am Kloot, has released a new single, “Mountain,” from his upcoming debut solo album, “Burn The Ration Books Of Love,” set to drop on November 15th. The track exudes bluesy vibes, blending elements reminiscent of Nick Cave and Johnny Cash with a distinct country and western flair, all delivered with a northern English twist. The single is accompanied by an intimate performance video, showcasing Jobson’s rich, evocative vocals.
“Mountain” follows the release of the album’s first single, also titled “Burn The Ration Books Of Love.” Produced by Ben Christophers and featuring backing vocals from Elbow’s Guy Garvey, the album delves into Jobson’s personal reflections and life choices. Jobson’s storytelling is both raw and poetic, as he shares anecdotes from his youth, including the time he accidentally set his Northumberland village on fire. This event, which remained a secret for 40 years, is now part of his deeply autobiographical album.
Jobson’s music draws from a wide array of influences, including Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, and Scott Walker, as well as blues and country legends like Robert Johnson and Hank Williams. His sound also nods to Northern entertainers such as Les Dawson and Jake Thackray.
