Iron Maiden – Number Of The Beast – A2/B2 – Signed by Bruce Dickinson #ironmaiden
Description
Condition: VG / VG
This is the first (A2/B2 pressing of Iron Maiden’s classic Number Of The Beast album. As you can see on the scans there is damage to the top left and to the rear of the sleeve. The original stiff card inner is intact and in good shape. There are some surface marks and light scratches so is graded VG. I’ve played it and it plays really well with minimal surface noise.
It is signed on the front ‘To James, Bruce Dickinson’. James was working at the Bruce Dickinson residence back in 1990 and got Bruce to sign this along with Seventh Son, The Evil That Men Do, And The Clairvoyant (all for sale as well). These records were obtained from James’ son.
“The Number of the Beast” is the third studio album by the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released in 1982. It marked a significant milestone in the band’s career, as it was their first album to feature vocalist Bruce Dickinson, who joined the band in 1981.
The album showcased Iron Maiden’s signature sound, characterized by powerful guitar riffs, galloping bass lines, intricate guitar solos, and Bruce Dickinson’s impressive vocal range. It also incorporated elements of progressive rock and showcased the band’s musical versatility.
The album’s lyrical themes drew inspiration from various sources, including literature, mythology, and religious imagery. The title track, “The Number of the Beast,” explored the concept of evil and the battle between good and evil forces. Other standout tracks on the album include “Run to the Hills,” a fast-paced anthem about the colonization of Native Americans, and “Hallowed Be Thy Name,” a poignant song about a man facing his own execution.
“The Number of the Beast” was a commercial success, reaching number one on the UK Albums Chart. It also helped propel Iron Maiden to international stardom, solidifying their status as one of the pioneering bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The album’s iconic cover art, depicting the band’s mascot Eddie controlling the devil, has become one of Iron Maiden’s most recognizable images.
