Ways in Waves Releases “Gliese”: An Eclectic Exploration

Ways in Waves’ latest track “Gliese” launches with a prog-rock vocal reminiscent of Yes, blending rock elements with electronic production. The song dynamically shifts between various musical motifs, featuring melodic and harmonic richness that ebbs and flows, culminating in a powerful crescendo.

Brian Raine, the multi-instrumentalist and producer behind Ways in Waves, draws inspiration from hyper-pop IDM artists and his fascination with habitable planets like Gliese 581. “Gliese” reflects on the coldness and unfamiliarity of a future without our home planet, critiquing the escapism of fleeing to the stars.

Originally from Yellowknife, NT, Raine began his musical journey at four and later honed his skills at MacEwan University. The project started as a duo and evolved into a five-piece band. Their debut album, “Bloodless Arches” (2019), was self-produced by Raine. “Gliese” is part of their upcoming LP, set for release in September, showcasing Raine’s innovative fusion of genres and influences.
