The Hawaiian Pistoleros are back with a sneak peek of their upcoming album, “Something Strange,” and their latest single, “Crazy Shaky Dizzy World.” This musical journey takes us from the turquoise waters of Big Island to the deserted streets of a windswept desert town in search of the elusive Suzie.

Comprising ten original tracks, “Crazy Shaky Dizzy World” was composed, recorded, and performed by the Hawaiian Pistoleros during the winter on a distant island. They’re joined by some notable guests, and the album is produced by Coconut Island in collaboration with MaAula Records, with mixing by Stew Crookes (known for his work with Weather Station and Doug Paisley).
The Hawaiian Pistoleros, led by Vassili Caillosse, a rare French pedal steel guitar virtuoso, have been crafting their unique musical blend since 2011. Hailing from Rennes and Nantes, the band members each bring their own diverse musical backgrounds to the table, with experiences ranging from folk-rock to French chanson to street theatre. Over the past decade, they’ve forged a strong musical bond, exploring the uncharted waters of American music from the interwar period.
Initially drawn to Western Swing and Hawaiian genres, which were relatively uncommon in France, the Hawaiian Pistoleros have since evolved their sound. They’ve moved beyond simple revivalism, injecting their own arrangements and a more modern, personal flavor into their music. The addition of Vincent Dupas (aka My Name Is Nobody) in 2015, who handles vocals and baritone guitar duties, further expanded their sonic horizons.
