Chattanooga-based indie rock artist Jason Lyles delivers a cinematic acoustic ballad with The Other Side. Built around intricate guitar arpeggios and atmospheric vocal layering, the track gradually expands with orchestral string arrangements, adding depth and emotion to its production.
Co-written with guitarist Gabe Lane during a tour stop in St. Louis, The Other Side takes inspiration from Interstellar, blending themes of wonder, struggle, and escapism. The song’s folk and country influences, reminiscent of Patience by Guns N’ Roses and elements of Blind Melon and Collective Soul, add to its rich musical palette.
Stephanie Brooks’ string arrangement enhances the song’s cinematic feel, while producer Andrew Preavett and mastering engineer Brandon Allshouse shape its immersive sound. Lyles describes the song as “about reaching for something beyond ourselves—whether through science fiction, art, or personal growth.”
