Strawberry Pom, a Mexican band consisting of Varo, Andrés, CJ, Genaro, and Checo, has been making waves in the indie and alt-rock scene. Their latest track, “How Can It Be,” offers a slow and steady introduction that gradually evolves into an intriguing, progressive composition reminiscent of the likes of Radiohead.
The song starts with a laid-back minimal drumbeat, accompanied by gentle guitar arpeggios. The vocals, accompanied by guitar harmonics, add depth and complexity as the track progresses. There’s a certain Radiohead-esque quality to the vibe, with moments of lovely tremolo guitar and organ parts that enhance the overall structure.
Strawberry Pom made their debut to the public in 2022 with the releases of “Deep Blue & Avers,” “Champ.,” and “Whatever it is.” Over the course of a year filled with activity, including over forty shows in various locations, including Mcallen and Laredo, Texas, they even had the honor of opening for “Enanitos Verdes.” Their first year culminated in a memorable performance at the iconic Café Iguana in Monterrey, where they played to a crowd of nearly five hundred.
In 2023, Strawberry Pom continues to impress with the release of “Galvanize!” the first single from their upcoming EP. Their unique blend of indie and alt-rock, evident in “How Can It Be,” promises an exciting musical journey for their growing fanbase.
