NYC-based indie folk-rock band The Tumblers continue their run of new music with the release of “Starlight,” a track that blends classic folk-inspired songwriting with a grittier, more electric indie-rock energy.
Opening with a static-toned guitar and a vocal line that carries warmth and intimacy, “Starlight” gradually expands into a fuller arrangement. As the track develops, shifting harmonies and rhythmic changes bring in a more dynamic feel, with a notable indie-rock influence that complements the band’s folk roots.
According to vocalist Jack Crawford-Brown, this new release represents a shift in the band’s sound. “We’ve gotten grittier and more vibrant in general across all our songs,” he explains. “All the songs before were recorded part by part. This release is a band playing together, locked in… We want it to sound real.”
The Tumblers formed in Brooklyn in 2022 and quickly built a name through energetic live shows and a sound that combines the narrative tradition of folk with the punch of rock instrumentation. “Starlight” follows earlier singles “Voice Inside,” “Light Of A Home,” and “Tastes Like June,” all leading up to their debut album Tangerine, out now.
With “Starlight,” The Tumblers showcase their evolving sound—raw, live, and unpolished in a way that captures the immediacy of a band leaning into their collective voice.
